“A teacher imparts education; the child is the one who makes a difference.”
Our School celebrated the auspicious occasion of Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan’s Birthday – the Teachers’ Day with zeal and zest.

The day began with Holy Mass celebrated by Rev Fr Jawahar Coutinho, Capuchin, at Maryhill Chapel for appreciating and praying for the teachers, who play a catalytic role in the holistic development of every student. He preached a touching homily highlighting the three qualities the teachers need to imbibe – Integrity, Dignity and Good Speech.

After the Mass, the Postulants of the Apostolic Carmel greeted the staff with their melodious song. Joint Secretary of the school, Sr Maria Anita AC wishing the teachers, appreciated their hard work, dedication and determination.

It was followed by a short programme to set in motion the “interlocking of the parking space” outside the new school building. The occasion was graced by the presence of Mr Ivan DSouza, Ex-MLC; Mr Stany Alvares, local leader; members of the Management and Sr Melissa, the Principal along with the entire staff.

A special cultural extravaganza was organised virtually by the students of class X and XII for the staff in the School Auditorium which included a prayer song, dance performance, greeting song and a very special message in a unique way to appreciate the hard work of the teachers which made the staff very emotional. They felt happy and sad – happy that the students lavished so much love and appreciation on them through the virtual programme; sad because everyone expressed that they miss the life and energy of children in the school, during this pandemic. A few more students enlivened the spirits of their teachers by their virtual Teachers Day greetings. Prior to this day, the senior students also conducted some virtual competitions to the teachers like mimicry, photography and quiz and Larrel Coutinho, a student of Class XII announced the prizes virtually through zoom cloud meeting.

The teachers then tapped their feet to music celebrating the joy of being a teacher which was followed by entertaining jokes to lift the spirits of all gathered.

Mrs Vidya Rai thanked the Management for the lively get-together and for supporting the teachers during the ongoing pandemic situation emotionally and financially.

The programme concluded with a special message by Sr Carissima, the administrator of the school, quoting “One pen, one Book, One Child and One Teacher can transform the whole Nation” and illustrating it beautifully through a heart touching story. This was followed by interesting games which zoomed the spirits of both the teaching and non-teaching faculty members to the fullest and ended with extremely appetizing fellowship lunch.
