Staff Development Programmes 2019

May 27, 2019 brought MCCS staff together in an effort to enhance and refine their knowledge and skills in order to empower their students to maximize their potentials. Sr. Marie Lucy A.C, the new Superior of Vijaymari Convent and Joint Secretary of the school was welcomed warmly. She in her message cited the significance of the day, acknowledged and appreciated the dedication and labour of love of the staff and motivated them to give their best in the new academic year. Administrator Sr. Carissima A.C, in her talk, highlighted the role of a teacher as an influencer not only in academics but at every stage and area of learning. Sr. Melissa A.C, the Principal wholeheartedly welcomed all, specially the new staff members into the MCCS family. She reminded them that a teacher is a learner forever and briefed teachers about the ethos, goals and rules of the Apostolic Carmel Management and urged the teachers to cater to the spiritual, intellectual, emotional and social needs of the students.
On day 2, a workshop was conducted by Dr. Caroline D’souza , Psychiatrist, on different types of student learners (high achievers, average achievers and late bloomers). The clippings presented showed how to observe, assess, guide students who are “at risk” in learning, how to be empathetic with students and their parents and to facilitate such students through remedial classes.

On the 3rd day, Ms. Seema Haridas, certified in NLP and experimental learning, briefed the teachers on the importance and advantages of Neuro Linguistic Programme and how it would benefit the educators and learners. She spoke about the agreement instead of rules and regulations which will affect better classroom management. The activity of transferring oneself from comfort to uncomfortable zone set the teachers thinking to become more innovative, compassionate and empathetic, thus reaching out to the late bloomers too.

The 4th day brought forth a very interesting workshop on “Public speaking and the Observer” conducted by Mr. Krishna Prasad Adappa, founder of “Accolades Academy” and his team. A series of interactive sessions on communication, pronunciation and vocabulary kept the teachers on the edge, vying with each other for points for their teams.
On 31st May, Sr. Pearl Anne A.C addressed the staff on Apostolic Carmel vision and mission of education and the characteristics of an A.C teacher.

The sessions on ITC by Educomp and Teachnext helped the staff to be effective in classroom teaching learning activities.

At the end of the 5th day, around 80 educators of our School were energized, equipped, enriched, enlightened to meet the learners of the academic year 2019-20 with passion and expectation.
