School Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel

School Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel

The feast of our Lady of Mount Carmel, the patroness of our school, was celebrated on July 15th with great devotion and fervor with the Eucharistic Celebration. The liturgy was meaningfully conducted by students of class IX. This day has an added significance as Foundation Day of Apostolic Carmel Congregation.

The programme for the juniors was proudly presented by class III A, B and C. From the melodious songs, the vibrant dances and the enlightening skit on Prophet Elijah each event sent forth one strong message that is to be steadfast in our faith, to love and to serve.

The Chief Guest of the day Joint Secretary Sr. Marie Lucy in her message cited the value of our own mothers, of their love, courage and sacrifice.

The feast was celebrated for the students of Classes VI to XII in the afternoon. Sr. Kiran A.C., who has headed many Carmel Institutions in the Eastern part of India, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The programme began with a prayer and a beautiful prayer song “Ave Maria”. Carol and Sheza of Class X welcomed the Chief Guest and the gathering.

A graceful and serene group dance followed a melodious group song by the students of class X. The highlight of the programme was the wonderful skit which contained three acts, the first one depicting the Prophet Elijah and his challenge to the followers of Baal, the second, a brief depiction of Simon Stalk and the Scapular that was given to him by Mother Mary herself when she appeared to him, and the third about a little girl’s sacrifice which pleased God and made Him shower rain on the parched land, a symbol of Mother Mary’s sacrifice for the people of the world.

The dance by the girls of Class X bursting forth in bedazzling brilliance to lively, popular Konkani songs set feet tapping and audience clapping to the quick rhythm!

Sr. Kiran, the Chief Guest, addressed the audience, congratulating the students on their wonderful performance. In her message she stated that one should look up to Mary, Mother of Jesus and strive to grow up imbibing all her virtues such as kindness, meekness, charity, etc. She wished all a very happy feast.

Master Rahul and Miss Bhoomika of Class X compeered the programme. Rishith of Class X offered the vote of thanks.
