School Feast 2014

School Feast 2014

Mount Carmel Central School, Maryhill, Mangalore celebrated the titular feast – the feast of our Lady of Mount Carmel, the Patroness of the School with much joy and great pomp on July 15, 2014.

The celebrations began with the Holy Mass at Maryhill Chapel offered by Rev. Fr. Alwyn Serrao, Principal of Rosario College, Mangalore. To foster devotions to Mother Mary, Queen of Carmel, scapulars were distributed to all who attended the Mass.

The kindergarten and lower primary children had their programme where the little ones honoured Mother Mary, Queen of Carmel through songs, dances and skit. Next the students of Class X, XI and XII hit the stage with their colourful and value based presentations on “The Great Contest –  Elijah and the prophets of Baal” which brought out beautifully the origin and devotion to Mary, Mother of Carmel in the Old Testament as well as the New Testament. The students also entertained the audience through folk dances as part of the celebrations.

Mrs. Mary Jacob, Retd. A.G.M, Syndicate Bank presided over both the functions and in her message told the students to imitate and practice the virtues of Mother Mary and to become loving and lovable.

As part of this celebration, we shared sweets with the students of Infant Jesus Kannada Primary School, Maryhill and the faces of the little children of Class I were a picture of joy as they received school bags and umbrellas as gifts from our School.
