Independence Day 2014

Independence Day 2014

“Happy Independence Day” was the slogan at Mount Carmel Central School on August 15th 2014, as India celebrated its 68th Independence Day. The National Flag was unfurled by Mr. Sudheer E. Albuquerque with the school band playing the National Anthem in its pomp and glory.

Our youth through their colourful  rhythmic march past gave the audience the feeling that this Nation belongs to them and they have a major role in building up an united India where peace and justice becomes every Indian Citizen’s birth right.

The soldiers of UKG class brought back to us the patriotic spirit of Kargil with the slogan “when you go home, tell them of us and say ‘for your tomorrow, we gave our today’”. The enthusiasm and the spirit with which our freedom fighters plunged with was vividly brought out through songs, dances and skits by students of Class III and VIII, upholding our unity in diversity and to live a life of peace with mutual love and tolerance.

The chief guest’s message starting with Pandith Jawaharlal Nehru’s speech on the stroke of the midnight hour and ending with Tagore’s poetic expression of peace and prosperity for our Nation made our children realize that in these challenging times, the problems are many but there are more situations to realize that the future of a better India lies in their hands. The entire celebration evoked patriotic feelings in them to say – “We are proud of our country, we are proud to be Indians.”

Prathiksha welcomed the gathering, Fanny D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks,  Sneha and Roshna were the hosts of the day.
