Christmas Celebrations

Christmas Celebrations : When the children today are confused with the real meaning of Christmas as whether it is the Birthday of Jesus or arrival of the Santa with gifts and exterior pomp, the children of our school unfurled the true meaning of Christmas by staging an hour long play with the longing for the messiah by the Jews from 9 am to 10 am. The conversation among the angels in heaven, the good tidings brought by the angels to Mary and Joseph, the Shepherds and the 3 kings, through dance, Song, conversation and finally arrival of the Santa Claus in his reindeer with gifts to be shared with rich and poor alike. Sr. Melissa welcomed the chief guest Rev. Fr. Allan Baptist, guest of honour Mr. Ronald D’Souza, lecturer in French, St. Agnes P.U. College, a few parents, staff and students. Ms. Frizelle DSouza proposed the vote of thanks and Ms. Rebecca Albuquerque compeered the programme. The Chief Guest of the day Fr. Allan Baptist, a retired priest from the diocese of Lyons, France was well impressed by the way the entire history of the Birth of Jesus was brought out creatively with a wide stretch of imagination of the children. In his brief message, he said that CHRISTMAS is a season which comes sweetly, softly and silently wrapping its loveliness about the world to spread the message of Love, Peace, Joy and Happiness everywhere and to everyone. Christmas Kuswar packets were distributed to all the students and parents who were present for the programme. The celebration ended with a Christmas party putting into action what was depicted in the play that Christmas is caring and sharing, fun and laughter. The students were left home at 11.30 a.m. The staff met together for a get-together at 12 noon. Sr. Marina conducted a short prayer service after which Sr. Carissima gave Christmas message and distributed cake to all the staff. Christmas joy was shared with one another through a festal meal.
