Celebration of Kannada Rajyotsava and National Unity Day: Grade V to XII

We celebrated Kannada Rajyotsava and National Unity Day with great pride and patriotic fervour in the school auditorium. The celebration, hosted by the students of Grade VII D and E, beautifully intertwined Karnataka’s cultural richness with the message of national integrity. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr. Muraleemohan Choonthar, Honorary Secretary of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Mangaluru Taluk Unit.

The event commenced with an introduction by the lively emcees Aadya, Aaradhya, Angela, Dhyan, Prathvi, Anya and Aryan who warmly welcomed the gathering and set the tone for the celebration of pride and unity. An all-faith prayer service followed, invoking blessings of peace, harmony, and togetherness, reflecting the essence of unity in diversity. A captivating welcome dance, blending traditional and contemporary forms, enthralled the audience and showcased the beauty and grace of Karnataka’s cultural heritage.

The welcome address by Angela and Ahana extended cordial greetings to the Chief Guest and introduced him to the gathering. The Chief Guest, Dr. Muraleemohan Choonthar, was warmly welcomed by Principal Sr. Melissa with a flower sapling, symbolizing growth, gratitude, and the nurturing of values. The significance of the day was presented by Aayansh, Jasmitha, and Tasya, accompanied by a graceful dance performance. Their presentation beautifully highlighted the importance of Kannada Rajyotsava and National Unity Day, reflecting cultural pride and patriotism. A melodious group song followed, celebrating the scenic beauty and glory of Karnataka, filling the auditorium with rhythm and pride.

An impactful nukkad natak (street play) was performed by students, portraying the unity in diversity of India and the remarkable contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, in uniting the princely states to form one strong nation. The performance vividly depicted the value of unity and harmony among people of different cultures and backgrounds.

The Chief Guest addressed the gathering with warm wishes to all students and teachers on the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava. In his speech, he highlighted the historical significance of November 1, 1973, the day when all Kannada-speaking regions were united to form the state of Karnataka. He also spoke about the government’s initiative ‘Suvarna Karnataka’, urging everyone to contribute towards the protection and promotion of the Kannada language. He further connected the celebration with National Unity Day, recalling the efforts of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who played a crucial role in uniting the princely states to form an Akhand Bharat. He concluded by inspiring the audience to uphold the true spirit of “Unity in Diversity” and to take pride in both their language and their nation.

The prize distribution ceremony that followed, recognized excellence across various competitions like Quiz, Diwali and sports team games.

To reinforce the spirit of nationalism, Josyl Fernandes of grade IX B administered the Oath of Unity, inspiring everyone to preserve the ideals of unity, diversity, and brotherhood.

Principal, Sr. Melissa, addressed the gathering with heartfelt wishes on the occasion of both Kannada Rajyotsava and National Unity Day. She fondly remembered the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose vision, courage, and leadership united the nation after independence. She urged everyone to renew their commitment to uphold unity, integrity, and harmony within the school and society by respecting differences and working together to strengthen the spirit of an Akhand Bharat. Speaking about the State, she described Karnataka as the epitome of beauty, unity, and culture, and reminded everyone of the need to love and respect the Kannada language. She emphasized that as citizens of this state, it is our duty to uphold the dignity of our language and culture, cherishing the heritage that binds us together.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dyuthi, Arush, and Rishal, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, Principal, teachers, and students for making the event a grand success.

The celebration was a perfect blend of culture, patriotism, and unity, leaving every attendee inspired to uphold the values of language, heritage, and national integration, true to the spirit of both Kannada Rajyotsava and National Unity Day.
