Celebration of International Women’s Day 2022

“A women’s heart holds the light that guides you even in a dark tunnel like that of life”. The students of Grade VI A, D and E celebrated the International Women’s Day 2022 in the School auditorium. Students Adit, Alena, Manavi, Leron and Vernal compeered the programme which began with a prayer service followed by a graceful prayer dance. Students Parmeeth, Vihaan and Mawel welcomed the chief guest CA Ruth Clare DSilva, the CA National Topper 2021 while the principal Sr Melissa welcomed her with a flower sapling. The presence of the administrator Sr Carissima, Vice Principal Sr Lidwyn, Vice President of PTA Dr Preethi Keerthi DSouza and the parents (mothers) was acknowledged. The significance of the day was highlighted with a Power Point Presentation.

Days like International Women’s Day are a time to celebrate the gains that have been made and to measure how far we have come, also to see that there are many more steps to take and to rededicate to bridge the gender gap. The students presented the journey of famous women, their struggles and contribution in the field of environment, art and culture, politics, sports, technology, education, space, administration, medicine etc. that changed their life and that of others forever. The choir enlightened the audience the importance of respecting women coupled with a sand art video on a woman and her role in the society. A woman has many roles to play, the students paid tribute to mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and teacher through a mesmerizing dance performance.

Teacher Saritha Yadav took over to introduce the chief guest of the day, CA Ruth Clare DSilva. The amalgamation of academics with sports was the unique achievement of this young, energetic and inspiring youth becoming the best one can be. The school took this opportunity to felicitate her for securing the All India first rank in CA in 2021. The chief guest in her message urged the young girls to achieve their goals, whatever be the hurdles they have to face in society with respect to oneself, in faith and determination to think big and be bold. The PTA Vice President Dr Preethi Keerthi D’souza with her youthful resounding voice asked all women present for the celebration, to be independent with interdependence. The Principal Sr Melissa in her message appreciated the efforts of the teachers and students of Grade VI for bringing out the theme “Break the Bias” of International Women’s Day 2022 beautifully and creatively. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by students Adithya and Shamith.

The entire staff met in the evening for a get together where the male staff entertained them with a short programme. The joyous day ended with sharing of experiences and refreshments.
