Annual Sports Meet 2022 – Grade V to XII

We organized the Annual Sports Meet 2022 for the students of grade V to XII on October 31, 2022 at Mangala Stadium.

Filling the event with oodles of potency, energy, positiveness and confidence, the Chief Guest Mr Jason Reuben Salins and the dignitaries were escorted to the ground to the rhythmic beats of our school band.

Adding to the enthusiasm, the energetic NCC Cadets Ethan Tauro and Noah DSouza escorted the chief guest to the flag post accompanied by the Principal Sr Melissa, Vice Principal Sr Lathika and PTA Vice president Mrs Jennifer Fernandes.

Further, bolstering the rhythm of the events, the students of every house – Daffodils, Blue Bells, Orchids, Anthuriums and Tulips marched for the Parade of the Sports Meet and honoured the spirit of true sportsmanship. The Parade was led by the School Sports Secretary of the year Vashishta N followed by the School Head Boy Ronan Lobo and the Head Girl Benita Rodrigues. Chief guest Mr Jason hoisted our school flag.

The School Choir invoked God’s blessings through a prayer song spreading a wave of divine light upon the gathering. Adding on to the extravaganza of the day, a phenomenal welcome dance was presented by students of grade VIII and IX. Principal Sr Melissa welcomed the chief guest Mr Jason Reuben Salins, the national Shot put player and introduced him to the gathering. She also highlighted the importance of sports and wished good luck to the students participating in various events.

Igniting the passion of sporting spirit, the torch flame was lighted and passed on to the Sports achievers of the school, who raised the flame of sportsmanship and raced through the track. Then, the flag bearers of all the houses along with the students raised their hands and voiced in unison the oath administered by the sports secretary, Master Vashishta, promising to take part in different events honestly and in a spirit of sportsmanship. This was followed by a Mass Drill with dumbbells, sticks, lezims and hoops by the dynamic students of grade 6 which added a vibrant note to the inaugural ceremony.

With the release of five different coloured balloons, each representing the five houses, the Sports Meet was officially declared open by the Chief Guest Mr Jason Reuben Salins. Addressing the gathering, he elaborated on the significance of sports in our sedentary lifestyle and advised the students to strongly set aside at least an hour in a day dedicated mainly for physical activities. He credited sports to have played an important role in his life and also expressed his best wishes to the students competing in different events.

Prior to this Meet, various team games were conducted house wise and the jubilant captains and wise captains of the winning teams were felicitated by the chief guest and the PTA Vice president. PET Mrs Teena DSouza delivered the vote of thanks, while teacher Aparna Phadte compered the inaugural ceremony. Soon the athletic events commenced and the students participated with great determination and enthusiasm.

The valedictory ceremony of the Sports Meet was chaired by the esteemed chief guest Ms Venezia Carlo, an inter-national level power lifter. The event began with a thanksgiving prayer song followed by a welcome address by the Vice Principal Sr Lathika A.C. The chief guest in her speech congratulated the winners. She advised the students to live up to their dreams and make time for fitness activities. The chief guest felicitated the individual champions of each category, and the principal Sr Melissa awarded the team championships.

Finally, the Sports meet concluded with a solemn moment of lowering the school flag by the Chief Guest. The vote of thanks was proposed by teacher Jyothsna R.M. The valedictory ceremony was compered by teacher Sandhya. The sportive day ended with the singing the National Anthem.
