Let’s salute our nation on 67th Republic Day!

The 67th Republic Day was celebrated at MCCS ground on January 26, 2016 with much enthusiasm by the management, staff, students and parents. The students of class VII had the privilege of hosting the day’s programme.

The programme began with the arrival of the chief guest Mr. S. Raghavalu, State Bank Of India Yeayyadi Branch Manager escorted by our Administrator – Sr. Carissima A.C, Vice Principal – Sr. Snehal A.C and the student representative – Elvin. Our school rhythmically welcomed everyone with the students’ cheer of applaud.

After the flag hoist and march past by the students, the cultural programme began with the prayer. Lorel Coutino welcomed the chief guest and the gathering. A dance was dedicated by the students to all the soldiers of the defense force. Jashan Chaabra enthusiastically gave the significance of the day in Hindi with patriotic fervor.

The students then highlighted the governing principle and the much not known symbol of our country through a short conversation by Leon Menezes and Sohan Lobo.

A melodious group song “Akash Ka Thara India” created a sense of peace among all gathered on the occasion. We had a group of enthusiastic performers holding the culture and tradition of our country by a wonderful dance sequence – ‘Desh Rangila’.

Mr Raghavalu gave away the prizes to the winners of various competitions held in the month of October and November 2015. He then addressed the gathering by giving the message of true patriotism. In his address he said: “Patriotism is not to be felt only on Republic Day alone. We must follow it on a daily basis.” He also spoke about the framing of the Indian Constitution and roles played by various freedom fighters.

Christon Colaco delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of the school management. The management later distributed sweets to all the students and staff. Thus the programme ended by taking a pledge inside our hearts to promote a feeling on oneness to make our country one of the great nations of the world.

The lower classes celebrated India’s 67th Republic Day on January 25th with solemnity and pride. The school echoed the patriotic fervour as the children drew scenes of the celebrations.

Mrs. Vidya Rai, Senior Secondary Lecturer in Biology of MCCS was the chief guest. Students presented a skit ‘Unity in Diversity’ with passion and enthusiasm conveying the message how through unity we can build our nation. A power point presentation on the Indian Constitution and Republic Day was also shown.

Mrs. Vidya Rai, addressed the gathering about the primary knowledge of our constitution. She educated the children about the Constitution and said “Dr. B.R Ambedkar was the father of the Indian Constitution.” She also emphasized on India being the Largest Democratic country in the world. She also added: “Constitutions means Book of Laws.”

The students of class 1A and B brought the stage alive with their passion and love for the Motherland.
