Our Sttaff go into “Action Research”

The teaching staff attended a seminar on “Action Research” on the afternoon of 4th July, 2019. To enable the weaker students to improve the quality of education in the institution.

The seminar was conducted by an experienced team comprising of Mrs. Anita D’Cruz, Sr. Pramila D’Souza and Mrs. Sylvia D’Costa, all from St. Ann’s Teacher Training Institute. The resource persons were introduced and welcomed by the Principal Sr. Melissa and were presented with plant saplings as a token of our appreciation for their service. The teaching staff from Vidya Jyothi, Infant Jesus and St. Mary’s English Primary Schools also attended the seminar and were warmly welcomed and involved in the process.

The subject of Action Research was introduced in the B.Ed course in 1994 which deals with the identification of weak students, their particular area of difficulty, and how to resolve their problems. All the information needs to be documented in the form of a report which shows the students performance before undertaking this action research and the improvement seen after. The students are immensely helped by the individual attention given to them and the stepping stone offered to bridge their difficulty and move ahead with the rest of the class. All it requires is a committed and dedicated teacher and a little extra time spent with the concerned student. The main objective of Action Research is to bring quality in the teaching/learning process.

The entire process was explained in detail with the help of a power-point presentation. The teachers were asked to take up five very weak students in each class and to put into practice the action research techniques discussed and submit a report of the Action Research done to the Principal at the end of the month.

The seminar came to a close with vote of thanks by Ms. Yasmin Das.
