Our NCC cadets celebrate the Earth Day 2023

Our NCC cadets celebrated the “Earth Day” along with a felicitation ceremony for the senior NCC cadets. Mr. Yashavanth Mada, second officer of NCC, BEM High School was the chief guest of the day. He was escorted to the dais by NCC cadets Samarth Nayak and Dishan G.

The program began on the school open grounds with the magnificent Peace Drill by the senior cadets, depicting the harmony of the environment and highlighting the discipline and coordination.

The formal programme in the hall commenced with a prayer song. Cadet Daniel Veigas welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest Mr. Yashavanth Mada. He along with the Principle Sr. Melissa and the administrator Sr. Carissima were greeted by the cadets with flowers.

As part of the Earth Day celebration, the chief guest and the dignitaries watered the plant that was kept in a prominent place and later the 2 cadets offered it to the principal Sr Melissa, as a symbol to protect the Mother Earth by nurturing the nature around us on the campus. The Bird Feed which the junior cadets had made on the occasion of Earth Day was judged on the spot by the dignitaries and the winning group was awarded.

The senior cadets were then felicitated with the ‘A’ certificate and prizes were awarded to the winners of other competitions. Two of the senior cadets voluntarily stepped up and recounted their experience as cadets, and enumerated their excitement, nervousness and the joy they felt in taking part in all the activities conducted throughout the past years.

The chief guest Mr. Yashavanth Mada in his speech appreciated the program and the work put in by the cadets and their mentors ANO teacher Teena and teacher Philomena. He wished a bright future for the cadets and encouraged them to continue to be part of NCC and motivated them to join the Indian army and serve the country thereby. Principal Sr Melissa encouraged the cadets to keep to their motto ‘Unity and Discipline’ and urged the seniors to remember the worth of their certificates. At the end, Cadet Leon Cletus Tauro proposed the vote of thanks. Cadet Mahathi compered the programme. The ceremony wrapped up with a patriotic chorus of the NCC song.
