Career Guidance Programme – Class X 2015

On the September 10, 2015, the students of class X assembled in the audio-visual room for a session on career guidance by Professor Ronald Pinto, the ex-vice principal of St. Aloysius College, Mangalore. He gave them a clear idea of what they could take up in their higher education and the pros and cons of each subject.

The students were provided with valuable tips on how to study. They were told about the five stages of studying, i.e. listening, reading, writing, analyzing and applying. They were encouraged to listen to what was done in class and read what was done. They were also told to write and study. Professor Ronald believes that writing is a form of therapy that can cure exam sickness.

He added that it was necessary to analyze what was learnt and apply it in their daily lives. He explained the difference between job and career. The students were then given a list of careers that they could take up after class XII and what kind of job they could get after completing their professional education. The advantages and disadvantages of different fields were also discussed, as well as various employment opportunities and scope for the different courses.

All in all, the session was a very useful and informative and the students got a clear idea of what they needed to do in order to take up the field or career of their choice.
